Agricultural Produce
All exports of Coffee, Cocoa, Palm Kernel Oil, Palm Kernel Cake, Ginger and Piassava require the requisite Permits or Export License from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
- Applications must be made to the Senior Permanent Secretary with a copy to the Executive Chairman, Produce Monitoring Board (PMB).
- The Senior Permanent Secretary or Chief Director will request PMB to inspect the exporter’s premises and confirm compliance with statutory requirements.
- Upon confirmation, the license may be issued or denied by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
- All exporters must consult the PMB for advice and to ensure that the quality of produce exported meets international standards.
- A 2.5% levy on the Freight on Board (FOB) value of the export must be paid.
Documentation
Exporters are required to submit the following documents:
- Certificate of Registration for a Sole Proprietorship
- Certificate of Registration and Certificate of Incorporation (for companies)
- Produce Dealers License – authorizing the exporter to purchase local produce
- Tax Clearance Certificate
- Letter from PMB confirming that the exporter has met statutory requirements, including having a proper store and operational tools
