
NIB PAYS COURTESY CALL ON INDIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER TO STRENGTHEN INVESTMENT TIES
A delegation from the National Investment Board (NIB) of Sierra Leone has paid a courtesy visit to the Indian High Commissioner, B.C. Pradhan, at his office on 32-B Wilkinson Road in Freetown. The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and promotion of investment opportunities between Sierra Leone and India.
The Executive Director of NIB, Dr. Edward Hinga Sandy emphasized government of Sierra Leone’s commitment to improving the investment climate in line with President Bio’s vision. He stressed the need for collaboration with the Indian High Commission to attract Indian investors through trade missions and investment promotion. He also praised existing Indian investments for their contributions to economic growth and job creation in Sierra Leone.
Furthermore, Dr. Sandy sought support from the Indian High Commission in training NIB staff in skills development and digitalizing the investment and business registration processes. He also advocated for the strengthening of the NIB website as the primary investment platform to enhance investor engagement and facilitate business operations.
Deputy Executive Director of NIB, Mahawa Sandi, expressed her gratitude to the High Commissioner for his warm reception and acknowledged the crucial role the Commission has played in providing technical training for NIB staff. She noted that the training has been instrumental in key NIB implementations and expressed hope for continued collaboration and support.
In response, the High Commissioner, B.C. Pradhan thanked the NIB delegation and reaffirmed India’s support for Sierra Leone’s investment sector, promising continued training for NIB staff and efforts to attract Indian investors. He highlighted Sierra Leone’s political stability as a key factor for investment and encouraged increased exports to India, particularly palm oil and textiles. He also called for ongoing engagement between the Indian High Commission and NIB to implement their discussed initiatives.
Dr. Sandy presented promotional materials to the High Commissioner as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation.
