NIB HOSTS BUILT ENVIRONMENT ENTREPRENEURS FROM SOUTH AFRICA
The National Investment Board (NIB) welcomed a delegation of built environment entrepreneurs from South Africa at its head office in Freetown.
The meeting focused on presenting Sierra Leone’s investment opportunities and facilitating an off-take agreement for projects in construction, consulting, IT, ICT, and mining sectors.
Head of the delegation, Engineer Gundo Maswin, shared plans to establish a consortium comprising South African construction firms, contractors, consultants, and mining companies to drive investments in Sierra Leone. He stressed a strategy of starting the project small but at a faster pace to attract more businesses with the already robust financial support in their favor.
Dr. Edward Hinga Sandy, Executive Director of NIB, while welcoming them, outlined the board’s commitment to supporting investors by coordinating and providing necessary services. He highlighted the country’s progress under President Julius Maada Bio’s leadership and identified key investment opportunities in energy, infrastructure, water and sanitation, education, and tourism. While emphasizing Sierra Leone’s openness to investment, Dr. Sandy assured the delegation of thorough due diligence to ensure credible partnerships.
This engagement marks a step toward fostering collaboration and advancing Sierra Leone’s economic and social development goals.
